will have to pay new visa fees published by the Directorate of Immigration and Emigration. The new fees would be 35 UK pounds, 45 Euros or 50 US dollars respectively. The fee changes are applicable for transit visas as well, 20 UK pounds, 27 Euros or 30 US dollars.
The revised visa fees are in effect since July 31st, 2016. Following the footsteps of Uganda… the east African countries – Tanzania, Kenya and Rwanda have cut the visa fees down to 50 US dollars, from the initial 100 US dollars. Now, all these countries maintain the same visa fees. They collectively issue a standard visa to travelers. Tanzania, which is not part of this agreement is facing tremendous pressure to join this arrangement from the tourism sector, to boost its tourist arrivals.
Burundi and South Sudan both the nations of East African Community do not have the posture for tourism as they have issues related to the internal conflict.
The country’s tourism sector has worsened with the downward spiral of tourism. For Burundi, one needs to apply for a visa in advance. When it comes to South Sudan, travel insurance companies , consider it most unsecure, with no insurance coverage to the people traveling this country.
