The federal department in charge of approving H-1B permits to foreign expatriates on Saturday disclosed that it had reached the limit placed on the issuance of permits to foreigners by Congress.
The limit was 65,000, and it had been reached.
“The United States citizenship and migration department have reached the limit set by Congress of 65,000 permits for the year 2018,” a statement from the department read.
The department has also gotten enough applications for the H-1B permits to achieve the 20,000 permits pardon; the department told reporters.
Although, unlike former years, the department did not specify how it would pick out successful requests which had been selected in the past via digital draws.
