The Province of Saskatchewan has sent out 596 Invitations to Apply for Nomination by the Province for Permanent Residence in Canada during the first Occupation In-demand and Express Entry draws held in 2019. Province of Saskatchewan Conducts First Draw of 2019

Express Entry Sub-category

362 Invitations were given to Express Entry candidates in the Immigrant Nominee Program for Saskatchewan. The Program allows the Province to nominate applicants in the Express Entry pool whom they consider eligible based on specific requirements. One of the requirements is that candidates should have work experience in one of Saskatchewan's high skilled jobs found in the Occupation In-demand list for the province. When a province nominates candidates, 600 points are added to their ranking scores. With this, they will certainly receive Invitations to Apply for Permanent Residence from the Federal Government.

Occupation In-demand

Also, 234 Invitations were sent out to candidates in the Occupation In-demand sub-category. In this category, foreign workers who have work experience in one of the in-demand jobs in Saskatchewan can apply. In Saskatchewan, it is not compulsory for an applicant to have an offer of employment in the province to be qualified in either of the immigration sub-categories that were drawn.

Procedure for Selection in both Sub-categories

Applicants trying to get in through any of the two sub-categories have to create a new profile as an Expression of Interest (EOI) to apply and also give information concerning their Education, Age, work experience, language proficiency, etc. The profiles would then be graded based on the information provided, and those who score 60 points and above would be added to the pool of candidates that are eligible for the Occupation In-demand or Express Entry Sub-categories. During the regular draws, candidates with the highest scores would be drawn from the pool. In this draw, the applicant with the least score under the Express Entry Sub-category had 63 points, while that in the Occupation In-demand sub-category. Basically, both the In-demand Occupation and the Express Entry Sub-categories operate based on Expression of Interest.
