Canada has set aside over $10 million for projects in the Foreign Credential Recognition Program. These projects are intended to assist skilled newcomers to get and maintain good jobs in Canada.
This amount can be used to design 15 different projects that can either ease the procedure for foreign credential recognition or help secure jobs for skilled newcomers.
The Employment and Social Development Canada mentioned that the government is need of original and mutual concepts from stakeholders which are specifically intended to dissolve the barriers which prevent the newcomers from blending into the labor market of Canada.
According to the Minister for Employment, Labor and Workforce Development in Canada, Patty Hajdu, it is important to help newcomers get recognition for their foreign credentials because in so doing, the Canadian Workforce grows when they join faster.
He said the government is using this medium of concept creation to offer every newcomer an equal chance to succeed in the country.
Submitting a Concept
Employment and Social Development Canada said that everyone who is a qualified stakeholder and has a hand in the integration of newcomers that are highly skilled into the labor market or foreign credential recognition is eligible to submit a concept. They could include professional associations, unions, and regulatory bodies.
The deadline for submitting a concept has been set for 11th April 2019.
Applicants whose concepts have been selected from the entries will be called to create and enter a complete project proposal.
Foreign Credential Recognition Program
This program works in collaboration with the Provinces and Territories of Canada, as well as with stakeholders like post-secondary institutions, regulatory bodies, employers and non-profit organizations to finance and execute programs that can ease the recognition and assessment of skilled and foreign credentials. This is done so that the beneficiaries of the credentials can get suitable jobs as soon as possible, and also adjust speedily to the country’s labor market.
